If you’re looking for therapy that focuses on mind-body integration, you’re in the right place.

Because humans are hardwired with social needs, I wholeheartedly agree with Judith Herman that our healing, growth, and potential for thriving happens in “safe enough” relationships. The therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy, regardless of any one intervention or modality. Furthermore, many of us have been wounded in relationships, including the traumas we’ve been through. In fact, some say all psychological trauma is relational in nature. Therefore, healing happens in relationships that are the opposite of trauma– non-coercive, empowering, and appropriately boundaried.
My Approach
My approach to therapy incorporates all of you- your mind, body, and soul. Although I believe in the necessity of “coping skills”, my main goal is not just to help you manage and cope… it’s to help you heal on a deeper level. I have education in various somatic therapy modalities and have been trained in Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). These modalities help us heal on a more holistic level- not just isolating the conscious parts of our mind- but our entire nervous system and body.
These approaches really excite me and I love sharing them with clients and seeing how they transform and heal. Learn more about these modalities below.

FAQ’s
What even is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy is an approach to therapy that focuses on the mind-body connection. It explores how our bodies hold and express painful experiences, respond to our environments, and seeks to address mental health concerns holistically through techniques such as movement, breathwork, and awareness of the body.
Why would I choose this approach over others?
There are many different kinds of therapies, and I believe each one has it’s own value, depending on your unique situation. Somatic therapy could be a helpful approach if you are struggling with the effects of trauma, anxiety that seems “random”, or depression that comes and goes without situational factors that you can recognize.
You might choose a somatic approach if you’ve tried talk therapy and feel you’ve hit a wall with it. Talking about things is wonderful and we can make a lot of progress with insight and cognitive understanding, but it’s not everything and sometimes can even make certain issues get worse. If you’re sick of talking about how you feel or telling your story over and over, a somatic approach might be for you. There are many reasons why my approach may be for you, and I’m happy to talk it through with you in a free phone consultation.
What does a typical session look like?
A typical session with me will look and feel a bit different if you’re used to more traditional talk therapy. The session may feel a little slower than you’re used to, as I tend to offer moments of pause, integration, and opportunities for sensing into your body. If this sounds scary- not to fear- we go at your pace and part of my job is managing the session so that you don’t get overwhelmed.
You may come in to session with things you’d like to process, and as we talk, I’ll provide opportunities for sensing into your body, possibly a mindfulness skill, or some movement. You may come into session with certain emotions present and we might explore that verbally or we might choose something like breathing, movement, or a meditation.
Part of our work together will also include learning about your nervous system responses, neuroscience, and how our bodies are impacted by our experiences. I also love to help clients understand the effects of trauma, dysfunctional families, attachment patterns, and overall understand themselves as a human with a body!
