Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga

TCTSY is a form of yoga or “mindful movement” that is an evidenced-based treatment for PTSD and the enduring symptoms of complex trauma. It was created by David Emerson and Jenn Turner of the Center for Trauma & Embodiment.

How yoga can help you heal

For many survivors, living in their body in the aftermath of trauma is incredibly challenging for so many reasons

-Jenn Turner

TCTSY is a practice that allows you to begin to reconnect with your body, establish a trusting and safe enough relationship, and regain your own sense of agency. If interested, you can learn more about the practice here.

Do you feel disconnected from your body, or from yourself? In TCTSY, the emphasis is on how the yoga forms (and movements) feel in your body, rather than how they look on the outside. You are invited to notice your internal sensations, with the aim to slowly and safely reconnect.
Do you struggle to feel a sense of control over your life? TCTSY emphasizes choice-making and invitation to foster empowerment in your body and therefore your life. Increasing connection with your body can help you learn how to identify emotions and healthy ways to express them, set boundaries with others, care for yourself, and more.

“The body is a piece of our experience, of ourself, that was left out of the therapy room … this is a way to bring the body into the process”

-David Emerson

*Upcoming group this November, 2024!

I offer a group TCTSY series that consists of 6-8 weekly sessions at a local yoga studio.

Individual Sessions

I also offer 1 on 1 TCTSY sessions. These can be done as part of a traditional talk therapy session or as a stand-alone offering.
