If you're ready to heal, you're in the right place

Space is limited!

If you’ve ever wondered how yoga and mindfulness could help you heal, this group may be for you!

If you’ve struggled with the effects of trauma and you’re looking for a gentle, safe, and effective way to heal, I encourage you to join me in this therapeutic space.

Group therapy provides a unique healing space where we can feel held and supported by others, learn from others, and know we are not alone. You’ll get to learn practical mindfulness, somatic, and yoga skills to help you along your healing journey. All while supported by a trained therapist and trauma-informed yoga teacher.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Healing Modalities Included

Trauma-Senstive Yoga

Trauma recovery is about healing the body, just as much as it is about healing the mind. We will use gentle and therapeutic yoga principles to help you release the burdens of trauma in your body and your mind. Trauma-sensitive yoga helps participants safely connect with the body while offering choice and empowerment.

*We are intentional about offering yoga for all bodies, all abilities, genders and ethnicities. Read more about trauma-sensitive yoga below

Mindfulness Practice

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing of awareness in the present moment without judgment or attachment. We will be incorporating mindfulness techniques into your healing to help you become better able to tolerate discomfort, offer self-compassion, ground in the present moment and more.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapy incorporates body awareness and safely encourages you to develop a “felt sense” of safety and connection.

Yoga, mindfulness, and somatic techniques all work together to provide a healing experience where you can learn to regulate your nervous system, reconnect with your body, and release old patterns of dysregulation.

Structure of the Group

8 weekly sessions lasting 2 hours each

Sessions will consist of two main parts:

1.) A more traditional group therapy experience where we will be working to create a safe and supportive environment for verbally processing our emotions and/or traumas (if this feels right for you). During group, the healing modalities mentioned above will be incorporated as needed. You will learn mindfulness and somatic skills.

2.) There will be a dedicated portion of session to learn and practice gentle yoga movements and principles.

Location: Heart Mind Healing in Gainesville

Group will be an in-person experience located at Heart Mind Healing in Thornebrook plaza. Owner, Caitlyn Adams has created a beautiful, welcoming space that is perfect for group therapy!

This is a space for healing work.

Outside of our group, at Heart Mind Healing you can receive energy work and participate in classes and workshops (meditation, gentle yoga, and more).

Meet Your Group Facilitators

Mary Bobowiec, LMHC

That’s me! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor  and Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) facilitator in training.  I will be your therapist and leader for this group.

Why group?

I am continually in awe by the unique factors that make group therapy a powerful healing force. I have seen long term clients progress exponentially by engaging in group therapy, due to the healing effects of connecting with others. I have run  many different kinds of groups, and now this trauma group. I am so excited to continue offering this group as healing force!

I am so excited to facilitate a group dedicated to healing trauma and incorporating the healing modalities I love the most- mindfulness and trauma sensitive yoga.

Caitlyn Adams

Yoga Instructor and Level 3 Reiki Practitioner

Caitlyn is the owner of Heart Mind Healing, a metaphysical studio in Thornebrook. She will be our yoga instructor and guide to healing via therapeutic yoga.

Caitlyn began her business as Energy Healing with Caitlyn back in 2017 and has been supporting people on their healing journeys through Reiki energy work and gentle yoga ever since. She believes every body can be a yoga body, and her teaching style is influenced by trauma-informed practices and empowering people to work WITH their bodies instead of against.

In her free time, she loves to cook, do jigsaw puzzles, and go on walks with her three rescue dogs.

We can't wait to see you there!

So...Why Yoga?

First and foremost, I have personally experienced the healing effects of yoga and I maintain a practice for my own trauma recovery and wellbeing. I am passionate about being able to share that with others.

Beyond my personal experience, we will be using an empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma called Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY).

TCTSY is the first of it’s kind in treating complex trauma and treatment-resistant PTSD. It uses elements of Hatha Yoga and blends together trauma theory and attachment theory to help participants maximize empowerment and connection to their bodies.

Within the TCTSY approach, you’ll be in charge of your body based on your own felt sense. There will never be hands on adjustments or an expectation to make your body look like anyone else’s, including the facilitators.

Although we will be using yoga forms and movement, the emphasis is not on how your body appears on the outside (“doing it right”) or on external validation, but on your internal experience of the shape. By focusing on the felt sense of your body to inform choice-making, TCTSY allows you to restore the connection of your mind and body and cultivate a sense of agency that is often compromised as a result of trauma.
